American Dream is a movie poster like composition in which I have projected a deconstructed US flag onto the UN Secretariat and General Assembly buildings. The latter is where in 2003 Colin Powell made the case for war, including alleging that Iraq was hiding WMD, something he came to regret later when no WMD was found.
I have collaged parts of the following photographs from the Great Depression era:
Signs in front of a highway tavern, Crystal City, Texas (Russell Lee, 1939, for the Farm Security Administration)
Sunday Singing, Frank Tengle's family, Hale County, Alabama (Walker Evans, 1936, for the US Resettlement Administration)
Sign, Birmingham, Alabama (Arthur Rothstein, 1937, for the Farm Security Administration)
