Kind of Blue is an open-ended series of contemplative abstract compositions. These inner landscapes explore materiality in a tactile process of imperfect mark-making. Geometricity, chance, repetition and the uneven line recur in the evolving visual language. There are no straight lines in nature and, like a coastline, every line fragments close up - perhaps signifying the blur between poignancy and indifference, the sacred and profane, between life and the absence of life. Kind of Blue is the title of the singular Miles Davis jazz album recorded in 1959.
